dream job manifesting picLong ago in a rainy city far, far away. . .

I landed a new job. It was exactly what I wanted, to the letter! But it wasn’t due to luck, chance, brownie points, or good karma awards saved up like so many S&H Green Stamps from other lifetimes.

Wanna hear how I did it?

Great! Stick around and we’ll get YOU on track for manifesting YOUR dream job.

First off, the problematic thing about job-hunting is the same as with hunting for a mate: you’re primarily hunting. Most people embark on The Hunt without first clarifying what they’re after, so they end up disappointed and feel they must settle for less than what they really want.

Why do we humans sabotage ourselves like that? Because we’re typically operating under the false but hypnotic belief that we are not powerful—that life just happens TO us, and that scarcity (of good jobs, wonderful mates, or anything else) is actually real. Most people assume that whatever they can currently perceive is all that exists, but that’s a far cry from the truth. Nonetheless, if you’ve bought into those beliefs, it’s only logical that you’d want to scramble and hustle and claw your way to the goods. It’s the overly “yang” way to go about things. But, man, what an exhausting, ineffective way to go!

There is a much more efficient and satisfying way. You can deliberately manifest your dream job. You can learn to use and integrate both your “yin” power and your “yang” power.

If you want to make use of your yin-power, it’s important to understand that your emotional state of mind matters tremendously. If you’re trying to manifest your dream job while you’re completely freaked out about where your next dime is coming from, it’s not going to go so well. Find a way to be calm and peaceful. If you’re in a bind, accept a temporary solution (and tell your mind that it’s just temporary, so it won’t resist so much). When you’re stable and your survival is no longer at stake, THEN you’re in a strong position to do the deliberate manifesting. (Really, you are manifesting all the time—it’s automatic and ceaseless. But I’m here to help you manifest some stuff that you actually LIKE for a change.)

When I used the technique that I’m about to share with you, I wasn’t at all needy. I was unemployed, but I had savings in the bank and I’d given myself permission to take some time off. So I wasn’t in a big rush to manifest this job. That relaxed, detached state is what allows your Dream Job to manifest quickly! If you don’t NEED a job (or a mate or a house, etc.) you’re naturally in a good position to pick and choose and wait for the best, and you’re more magnetic to it because you don’t have a lot of Resistance running in your circuitry in the form of anxiety and fear.

Whatever your current situation is, find SOME way to ease off the neediness pedal. That has to be priority number one. Next, turn your attention to fun daydreaming! What is it that you’d LOVE to be doing, if all perceived barriers, restrictions and limitations were removed? Allow yourself to think in more unlimited ways. Your logical mind may object but you have the ability to tell it to pipe down and stop raining on your parade.

Take charge of the Negative Nellies in your head so you can keep moving forward. It’s like dogs barking at the wheels of a fire truck as it roars down the street. Does the fire truck stop or slow down on account of them? Hell, no! And neither should you allow yourself to be brought down by needling thoughts. You are bigger than them, so stand up for yourself. They are mere thought-forms; YOU are a powerful infinite spirit-being!

Okay, here is the technique: the “I AM” board.

  1. Grab a piece of paper and write in the center: “I AM,” big and bold.
  2. All around it—like the spokes of a wheel—place representations of Things You’d Like to be Doing (images and/or words) when you are at your Dream Job. You can write or draw or paste clippings or print outs on there.
  3. Draw lines like wheel spokes to the center. Put a picture of yourself on there somewhere.
  4. Whenever you look at your “I AM” board, get happy! Imagine yourself at your Dream Job. FEEL exhilarated, appreciative, and maybe even incredulous! Affirm to yourself out loud, “I’m the happiest boy/girl in the world! Here I am, working at my Dream Job. It hardly feels like work at all. I’m so loving this!”

Manifest Your New Job

About those “Things You’d Like to be Doing”: be honest with yourself. Don’t include things you hate doing because your logical mind insists that you “have to” do those things. You can manifest anything you want. ANYTHING. So please don’t manifest any more stuff you don’t like!

On the other end of the spectrum, you might be wondering “well, I’d really LIKE to do certain things but I have no experience or credentials.” Hey, that’s okay too. Put them on there. If you can imagine yourself doing those things, and if it brings you great joy, then a way will be made available for you to have that experience. It may or may not show up right away in the job you create/accept. Perhaps it will be something that develops later on, once you’re hired and/or settled in. Just allow it all to happen in the best possible way for the highest good of all parties, and diligently cultivate the belief that it definitely WILL happen for you. If it eases your mind, cultivate a belief in Divine Timing for everything.

Now here is the crucial instruction—and this is where you’ll need to depart from conventional thinking:

DO NOT attempt to figure out the details of HOW exactly you and this Dream Job are going to find each other, what your exact job title will be, your employer’s identity, etc.

The only exception is that if any of these things is integral to your long-held dream. For instance, if you dream of working at a certain company and/or in a particular geographic locale, or you derive immense joy from the idea of having a certain job title. Specify what’s near and dear to your heart and what constitutes a deal-maker for you, and allow the other stuff to be selected on your behalf by the Universe (or your Higher Self, God, your subconscious mind, your faerie-elfin friends, pixie pals and angel-amigos, or however you like to conceive of your “partner” in this manifesting mechanism).

There is an art to knowing which things to get specific about, and which things to leave open to the Universe. The key to navigating this seeming paradox is to drill down to the Essence of what you want vs. possible Forms that this essence could manifest through.

Take each thing that you want and break it down to its most basic element by asking yourself “WHY do I want this?” It may be that you want the title of “Vice President” because you think it will bring you prestige or a bigger salary. In that case, I recommend going for the Essences (“I am… well compensated” and “I am… well respected in my field”) and allow the Universe to decide on the Form that brings the compensation and respect to you. If, on the other hand, your answer is “I really just like the way that title sounds—it just rolls off the tongue” then maybe it’s already at the Essence level for you. This stuff is very personal and case-by-case.

The Truth is that your logical mind is not capable of figuring out all the details. When it tries to—and when you allow it to be your supreme ruler—you end up with a very small (and usually unhappy) subset of possibilities. That’s what happens when you go with full-strength yang-power at this thing. If you want to experience something beyond what you’ve already experienced, beyond what your logical mind can concoct, then don’t try to figure out the finished product.

How, then, are you going to find this Dream Job?

If you stay relaxed, you’ll be able to “hear” the intuitive promptings from your Higher Self. They show up in a creative variety of forms. Some people get “downloads,” others see “signs,” some get guidance in their dream life. Some experience clairaudience (literally, the old “voices in the head” gag) and many just get a strong, persistent or recurring urge to go somewhere, do something, or even say something to someone that surprises you when it exits your mouth. That’s your higher self talking through you, and it’s a beautiful thing! By allowing such things, you’re engaging your yin-power, which is very powerful indeed.

When you act on those cosmic nudges (no matter how much your logical mind may object to their validity) it will lead you exactly where you want to go. You can trust your inner guidance. You don’t need to know all the steps in advance. Your Higher Mind will leave you a trail of popcorn, and you really only need one kernel at a time. As a matter of fact, your higher or inner guidance has always been there for you, even if you’ve been trampling it underfoot as you “logic” everything to death! (I’m giving you some tough love here, but it’s just my Jersey Girl mode of affection. I do understand your struggle, I really do. After all, I am a recovering enginerd. 😉 )

Stay open. More open than you’ve ever been. Be willing to cast aside what you think you know for sure. Be on the lookout for synchronicity and strong urges to do something or go somewhere or even look in a certain direction. Follow whatever interests you, even if it seems totally unrelated to your job quest. Notice that what excites and inspires you may be entirely different from what your logical mind is telling you SHOULD do. But please. . . don’t “should” on yourself.

If you’re a hardcore logical person, you may find it challenging at first to notice and honor your intuition, but I assure you that this is where the magic lies. It’s well worth the effort to dust off and master your spidey senses, and it’s a far more useful way to go about things than trying to personally wrestle your manifestation to the ground. Relax. The job you seek is also seeking you! All you have to do is meet it halfway, and most of that distance is covered by managing your mind.

FUNtruth2

In my case all those years ago, I hung my “I AM” board on a wall, glanced at it happily from time to time, and went about enjoying my life. A month later I was in a grocery store and a local free weekly newspaper caught my eye—something about the cover story was interesting. When I took it home and leafed through it, I saw a classified section in the back. It was a meager collection—I think it had all of 3 or 4 “help wanted” listings. But one of them sounded very intriguing. I checked out the employer’s website, applied for the job, and got it. It was a job title and an organization that I’d never even heard of, nor had I logically thought about before. And yet, it encompassed every single item on my “I AM” board.

I landed my dream job by relaxing, staying in a relatively happy place mentally and emotionally, allowing the Universe to compile all the essences that I specified into the finished product, and most importantly by allowing my inner guidance to make the hook-up.

Notice that I was not deliberately “job hunting.” When I picked up that newspaper, I wasn’t even thinking at all that there might be job listings in it. It didn’t look like the sort of publication you’d find a job in. I was completely unconcerned, and that “letting go” state is rocket fuel for manifesting. [Yes, I know, today most listings are online, not in print, but it works the same way! You could be inspired to click on something that will lead you to the site you need to see.]

Interestingly, during the interview I learned that my boss and I were born in the same hospital about 3,000 miles away from where we currently sat. Synchronicity is not only fun to experience, but you can interpret it as a “sign” that you’re on the right path. Keep that in mind if you locate a job that initially doesn’t seem to match up with your “I AM” board. It may develop in due time if it’s the right job for you. Check in with your gut feelings to discern.

I won’t say “good luck” to you because there is no such thing as “luck.” Life just isn’t random! But I do wish for you the strength to minimize interference from your logical mind, so that you may experience your ultimate Dream Job (and anything else you desire) and the unfurling of magic that allows it to manifest in the most delightful way, for the highest good of all involved.

This is so excellent. Thank you for this article. It really helps for someone like me that manifested my current job through writing down what i wanted and now has came to a stagnant place in my life. I want to move to a different state and city but without a car or money, it’s kind of hard to think about the how when there are these obstacles in the way. And there’s a certain type of living I’ve grown accustomed to and I’m not willing to live below that standard for any new place.

What I realized by reading the article that I was putting limits on myself and what I could have. I realized that I should just do what I did before but include that I want 5 star lodging taken care of and a way to get to my job taken care of. And it should happen the way I intention it.

    • Hey Agman! I’m glad to hear that it helped you. Sounds like you’re back on track with your powerful self. Come back and let me know how it magically turns out later on, okay? 🙂

Question: How would one who has no immediate funds to be able to support themselves in any way, shape, or form manifest a job quickly?
You mentioned not “freaking out” as the proper mindset but that could be difficult for someone close to eviction and utilities being disconnected.

    • Freaked out = Fear = not so pleasing manifestations.
We’re always manifesting our reality, and what manifests (or doesn’t) has to do with our beliefs as well as our current state of mind and emotions. The thing is, when you’re in crisis, it’s not really a good time to stop and examine your limiting beliefs. EFT is the only tool I know of that actually works when you’re in the throes of negative emotion. So I’d say, use EFT. A LOT. And ask questions. It’s typical for someone in a bad situation to fixate on it and re-run the negative stories, but if you make a habit of asking questions, you open up to something new and better. For example, “What’s a solution here? How can I feel more secure?” or “What steps can I take to improve this situation fast?”

Be open to taking action, even if it’s not ideal. That’s the big thing. Too many people get the idea to be overly passive with manifesting. You still have to act… and let’s be clear that slacker manifesting does really work! ONLY, it doesn’t work if you’ve got resistance, especially in the form of unconscious limiting beliefs. So go with the path of least resistance, whatever it is (taking any job? selling stuff? asking your peeps for help??). I mean, there are always jobs available, but if you’re on the edge, it doesn’t make sense to hold out for your dream job. Do something that will stop the bleeding, so to speak (remind yourself that it’s temporary.) Even something that looks far from ideal can lead to wonderful things as a stepping stone. You never know. Open up, and tame your ego!

Once you re-stabilize, THEN make a concerted effort to clear out sabotaging beliefs to ensure that this never happens again.
      All the best to you.

Hi Debbie, thanks so much for this post !!!! It’s really helped as I recognise so many of those manifestion signs. I was recently made redundant and initially worried an my days were spent searching for jobs, finding recruiters until

  • Jules

my friend rang from the same company whom had also been made redundant, we both laughed about how it was a blessing, we were no longer miserable and it was my friend who told me to relax and let what the god lord had in plan manifest, since then I’ve completely relaxed I’m not really looking for work unless it’s something I’m getting excited about internally …… I can totally resonate with a lot of those feelings you mention and just being in tune with them. I had a lot of no’s for interviews when I was stil employed but I’m thinking now I’m on the right path…. Thank you Debbie and love your writing xxx

  • Jules

Hi Debbie Anne, I hope you’re well….thanks for sharing the laughing post ! I do love to laugh ? I have odd moments where I worry I’m not doing enough job searching, but I need to trust in the process. it’s not that I’m being lazy, just selective about what I really want !! Am trusting it’s manifesting to me ? Xx

  • Ankita

    Hi Debbianne,
Nice post. I want to manifest my dream job. Can I know during your process of this, did you visualize every night about your dream job (like how it is going to be after you got it) or you concentrated on the “I AM” board and felt happy and believed it that it is there? Is visualization important or we should have just the belief that your desire is meant to be.
    Thanks

    • Ankita, I didn’t do much visualizing at all after making the “I Am” board. As a rule of thumb, if you feel inspired and excited, then do it. If you feel fearful and anxious, then don’t do it—do something else that makes you happy. Emotions are important because they add fuel to manifesting, beyond just images and thoughts. Pay attention to how you feel. The specifics of visualizing or other techniques don’t matter that much. It is your intention (to have a great new job) and your Allowing, or state of being, that matter. Hope that helps! 🙂

      • Ankita

Debbianne,I think I am not very good at visualizing, so thank you so much for clearing my question. I have prepared the “I Am” board and I use them as affirmations.I look at it twice a day, and try to be happy as much as I can and feel that I am already working at my dream job, without visualizing. I hope I am doing it right !

  • Amanda

Thanks for the great post! currently writing I am statements for my dream income increaser.

  • Lanese Sims

Thank you for writing this article. Reading it was just what I needed…I’m ready to make a career change. Right now I am making a great salary but I’m miserable. There are a few bright spots about my role, so i focus on them to get through each work day. I’ve already been practicing most of the principles you mentioned and I feel peace and confidence the manifestation of my perfect career is happening. I have not created an I AM board yet…maybe it’s just what I need for my break through. Thanks again for such great information!

    • Glad to be part of the inspiration. The key, it sounds like, is shifting away from the “miserable” vibration even while you’re still there. Feelings matter immensely. Which is why it’s great to hear that you feel peace and confidence. Remember, the ideal job is seeking you too.

      Go, Lanese! 🙂
